I sensed the album I was currently playing was not fitting my mood, and a dark atmospheric album would. So I switched off what I was listening to, and turned on this. I had previously heard Harvest Moon in small pieces at a time, and sensed I wasnt prepared to digest it. But I thought that trying an older album would help. And indeed, Metafiction is an excellent record that carries on the Polish penchant for dark progressive metal on the milder end of the spectrum, depicting mental states of loneliness, regret, and depression, as originated by Riverside. I cant say they sound like Riverside, but Votum have the same general vibe and come close to the same relentlessly despondent atmosphere, and I am quite happy with this record. Even if the record itself doesnt make me feel happy.
