I set out on this political journey with the intention of broadening the Republican base in the 6th District of Minnesota. I firmly believe that all Minnesota deserve an opportunity to choose who will be their candidate to run for federal office. It should not be a decision made by an exclusive group of activists and idealists whose personal philosophy falls within a limited range on the conservative spectrum. I believe that by running in a primary, challenging the status quo I have done what I set out to do. First and foremost I want to thank my wonderful supportive husband Ran whose encouragement, counsel and humor guided me through these last months. To my children, Sonjay & Asha, your love, support, and commitment would make any parent or candidate proud to have you by their side. To my campaign team and committee, I am humbled by your level of commitment and grateful for your unending willingness to stand by my side through thick and thin, offering words of encouragement when I most needed it and sacrificing time away from your family to move this campaign forward. To my volunteers, you have worked tirelessly calling, walking in parades, dropping literature, hosting meet and greets and waving signs reminding people to vote. To my supporters and all those who voted for me tonight, I am so honored that you considered my candidacy worthy of your trust and that you chose to support me to be your voice in Washington DC. Finally, to my opponent, Tom Emmer – congratulations on this victory. Let’s all come together over the next 10 ½ weeks to guarantee that this seat remain in Republican hands.
