I shared this on my personal FB page today but wanted to share it with all of you! Many of you followed us on our adoption journey and I wanted to update you :) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ One year ago today I went to the foster home (aka orphanage) that Asher was staying at and together we left as mother and son. During my high school and college years I had a ton of experience babysitting and nannying. But never have I had the opportunity to be a mom. And Asher had never had the opportunity to be a son. So we both had a lot of learning to do. A year ago today was the start of our journey together in Addis while we waited to be cleared by the US to go home. We met so many wonderful people during our time in Ethiopia. Adoptive families, gals who worked at the guest house we stayed at, men who worked at the Sheraton we stayed at, the awesome investigator we hired (I will cherish the pictures I have of him and Asher) and even our contact at the US embassy who kept us in the loop on everything and expedited our exit interview and visa. It was a whirlwind time for us in Ethiopia. I wouldnt have had it any other way
