I shot this short video while riding in a diesel locomotive from South Dayton to Dayton and back on the New York & Lake Erie Railroad to mark the 30th anniversary of the movie "The Natural" with Robert Redford, which filmed scenes at the South Dayton Rail Station. The engineer is Robert O. Dingman, president of NY&LE RR. There were a couple of rail fans in the locomotive as well. I remember the first train ride I had on the NY&LE back in the 1980s. It was a coal- or wood-fired boiler on the locomotive, which had a railing all around it so you could walk out in the front of the locomotive while it was rolling along between Little Valley and Cattaraugus. Alas, that track was removed (all the way back to Salamanca) and is now the Pat McGee Trail.
