I sincerely never thought politics would have ever fit into my game plan. Over the past few years it has become clear to me that no government problem will ever be fixed without citizen action. The number one thing that citizens can do is simply be involved. Pay attention to actions. Chances are if it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck....well you know the rest. Remember, your tax dollars are your investment into whatever entity is using it on your behalf. We are stakeholders and we do have a say so. The Freedom of Information Act ( FOIA ) is a law that guarantees citizens a means by which to obtain and evaluate public institutions for themselves. Government entities can be held lawfully accountable if the information is not given. Its that big of a deal. Without using the FOIA system, many of the issues revealed about CCPD would have never been made public in an open and honest way. I want to be the commissioner known for working for the public, not behind their backs.
