I spent the weekend in Albuquerque with my Nephew for his 13th - TopicsExpress

I spent the weekend in Albuquerque with my Nephew for his 13th birthday! Took him to Hooters for the his first time HAHA......while we were sitting at the table waiting for our food, I asked him Andre, if you could have anything you wanted for your birthday.....no matter what the cost.....what would you want? He looked at me a little confused.....put his hand on his chin.....and then said I think this is something that Im really gonna need to think about. So we carried on about our day.....went shopping, checked in to our hotel, and then to a movie. On our way walking into the theater he says Just to let you know, Im still thinking about it LOL.....as if he thought I had forgotten that he still owed me a response. We watched our movie and as we got in the car to drive away he looks over at me and says Aunt Carie, its not what I want for my birthday but in general.... I want you to find a really good boyfriend......one that is nice to you and never mean VERY SURPRISED......and quite shocked I look at him and then he says I am growing up and when I cant be here to spend weekends with you, You need to have someone good to replace me! LMAO......My reaction was laughter but it touched my heart that he thought of that.....then he says.....by the way that was not my BIRTHDAY answer.....just so you know. The next morning we are on schedule to go to Sagebrush Church as we always do at 12:15. We arrive a little late......but just in time for a video that came on with footage of several people getting baptized.....older folks, very young kids, and teenagers! One particular young girl was on screen talking about how her life has drastically changed since she started attending Sagebrush and became a believer in Christ......Im not sure exactly what she said that hit my nephew so hard but he grabbed my hand and with tears in his eyes said I KNOW WHAT I WANT.....I WANT TO GET BAPTIZED FOR MY BIRTHDAY!! Crap!! Now Im in tears.....because Im thinking.....I asked him what he wanted no matter what the cost and this kid chose something that COST NOTHING......but something that would CHANGE EVERYTHING for him and everyone around him. Its amazing to me how kids think.....and how simple minded they are to remind us of what is really important in life. Im a single 38 year old woman, and Id rather be spending my days off and weekends with that 13 year old kid ANY DAY!! That is truly the good stuff in life.......
