I spent time before Father God this morning and then prayed for my family, inmates at the local jail where I minister, and other needs. Then I read chapters 6-10 of Second Samuel. Chapter six is a record of David’s disastrous attempt to move the ark of God. Uzzah tries to steady the ark “And the anger of the Lord burned against Uzzah, and God struck him down there for his irreverence” 2 Samuel 6:7. David did not consult the Law of Moses before trying to have the ark brought to Jerusalem. The same account recorded here appears in First Chronicles chapter thirteen. After Uzzah is struck down for trying to steady the ark while in transport, David discovers only the Levites are authorized to move the ark. When the Levites transport the ark it is brought safely to Jerusalem. The lesson to be learned here is God not only has something He wants done, He also has a way in which He wants it done. We need to do what God wants God’s way.
