I spent two hours this warm and sunny afternoon at Korbel Ponds, in Humboldt County, CA. -Few Cardinal Meadowhawks (all male) -Several Variegated Meadowhawks (all male) ~Dozen Common Green Darners (most males) ~Dozen Blue type darners (presumably CA as they looked short) -Many Boreal Bluets (3 in hand- several in tandem) -Many Western Forktails (several females ovipositing) -Many Pacific Forktails -ONE teneral female spreadwing just beginning to get that emerald color - but Ive had both black and emerald spreadwings here, so I couldnt say which of the two species it was. - For a bonus, I saw a Giant Waterbug (Belostomatidae) when I flipped a log-- they are strikingly beautiful. All in all a nice afternoon- except that I forgot the memory card in my computer, so there were zero pictures taken!
