I spoke at an event this past summer and was blessed with a gift card to dine at one of my favorite spots. I finally decided to use it so I get out of the house for a lil bit. Of course I cant speak for 6 more days so I took a pad and pen to write. The waitress is speaking loudly to me and treating me like a child. When she walked away I immediately reflected back on my experience with someone that cant speak and how I speak my kids. I acted exactly the way she did. Wow! My sutiation is temporary so it doesnt compare to what someone goes through everyday. Food for though Make sure youre aware of how you treat someone different than you. Also teach your children to give that same respect. As for the talking and treating me like a child because I cant speak. It made me feel very uneasy and I wanted to say Hey! Im not a child lol. So talk to your children the way you want them treat and respect you. After this experience, I realized how much Ive verbally spoiled my boys with Daddy talk. Choose the age, but at a certain point speak to your children in more mature manner. That will determine their mental growth and how responsible they will be.
