I spoke with a very close friend of mine today, a friend who fought in Vietnam in the early 60s as an Army Ranger. He was a young man back then only experiencing the foothills of his beloved Santa Fe and the mountains of Colorado. He had no choice other than to adapt to his new environment, as a young soldier, he fought with valor, returning from his tour of duty to continue to combat the scars he had hoped to leave back across the Pacific. I will always hold his heart of gold close to mine, hoping to gain within me a glimmer of courage that he has sustained well into his seventies.
