I start my journey to finding 30 good opportunities to contribute to. You might want to donate, volunteer or spread the word but you cannot ignore. The first one is the settling of the IDPs in North Waziristan. Up to 600000 IDPs have been registered by authorities so far. The bulk of these IDPs, approximately 80% of them, are spread out across the FATA District of Bannu. Most have avoided the relief camps due to safety issues and have sought refuge with their friends and relatives. I spoke to Imran Khan Foundation IKF yesterday and there is no shortage of supply for the basic necessities as there is an abundance of supplies by the aid agencies. IKF is providing more sustainable and long term solutions. Having observed IKFs work through the catastrophic earthquake and floods, what I am absolutely in love with is their philosophy to empower and give ownership to the people of the land. They not only offer sustainable solutions but also give ownership to the community and engage them to build or rebuild a model village. It is important not to strip a person or community of their dignity when supporting them. IKF does a fantastic job of empowering the local communities. IKF is not only one of my favourite organisations for their work but I have found their online donation system to be one of the best.
