Lesson one: never do this again without a proper crusher Lesson two: wear gloves Lesson three: never borrow a press that doesnt come with instructions Turned out using the basket and blocks from my friends press was the way to go. Hers is a double-ratchet press. Maybe we just couldnt figure it out, but it was not easy to use. Hubby built me press using a hydraulic bench press, and a wonderfully sturdy oak basket. With the right blocks it worked like a dream. All in all, it went pretty well. This was the first time my hubby did much more than lift stuff for me. Pitched yeast yesterday. Not much going yet. Must was still pretty cool having sat in the garage for the first day.
