I support Javier Eduardo Valbuena Ramirez for his campaign for ASFA Independent Councilor. There are numerous reasons why but I will let him explain. Good Evening my fellow Concordia students, I would like to remind you that I am currently running for independent councilor in the upcoming ASFA elections. I am confident and eager to represent the rights and interests of the student body. The role of an independent councilor is to oversee the policy-making process to ensure that the executive and the leader of members’ organization are working in the best interests of students. I believe transparency and efficiency need to be improved so that we can provide better access to services and programs to a wide variety of students. I do not perceive my lack of experience as a weakness but as an opportunity to bring fresh ideas to improve ASFA. My goal as independent councilor will be to promote and increase the number of academic events offered to students. I strongly believe Concordia students are talented and dedicated individuals that have the necessary skills to compete with other major universities around the globe. I would like to invite member organization and ASFA executives to work together so that dedicated students get the opportunities they deserve. I would to end this status by encouraging all Arts and Science students to vote in the upcoming election. I emphasize on the importance of voting as many students do not take the time to vote.
