I suppose it is now official since it is announced on the university website. 6 years ago, I decided to leave industry and move to academia after almost 9 years in industry. 6 years of lots and lots of work, exhaustion, sleep deprivation, and many many challenges that I wasnt used to in an industrial setting. Thankfully, it all paid off and Im now officially promoted to the rank of associate professor with tenure. Although part of me is pretty happy and excited about this important milestone in the academic world, but the other part of me (the one that is always worried, stressed, and never lets me enjoy any accomplishment to the fullest) is already telling me dont be too excited, you still need to become full professor. I guess we can call that PTSD (Post Tenure Stress Disorder). In any case, Im so grateful to my graduate students whom without I couldnt have been successful, and of course the great folks at Texas Instruments who have been very supportive of my research group, and all the senior professors at ISU and other universities who helped me throughout these 6 years.
