I suppose the soundtrack of cool, front-porch evenings in our old - TopicsExpress

I suppose the soundtrack of cool, front-porch evenings in our old home will always be the echo of neighborhood dogs, barking almost in duel, the distant whoosh of passing cars, the steady, white-noise hum of a nearby river, and the soothing clink of an unseen wind chime. It was a good place to be. A good home. I heard a proverb once and it was something like, “You can never discover new oceans until you have courage to lose sight of the shore.” Sometimes a good home is the shore of which you must lose sight. Still…moving from a house feels more like abandoning moments. Moments where even the most horrific become valuable. And new oceans are unfamiliar and daunting. They refuse to be predicted. But, I suspect, isn’t it always the best adventures that do? So, then. Here’s to being willing. To stepping off cherished grounds, though tears make the journey blurry for a time. Here’s to uncharted waters and unexplored possibility.
