I sure do miss my triathlon competitions, being in the water, running some hills, riding for miles. Its like an athletes high that u can only experience when youre out doing one of those events. I miss the long hours I used to put in to each event, n sometimes I feel that I dont have the time, but then again I can sit in front of the tv watching a movie for two or three hours, n just add that up per month. Thats a lot of hours sitting down, n that doesnt only go for me. How many of u sit around wishing u could be more active, but the motivation is just not there. As for me, I want to be one the healthiest 51 year olds around. Sometimes we just have to push ourselves, cuz nobody is going to do it for us. Im going to say this, n I hope that it will help someone out there that is struggling. When I was competing I always kept my weight from 165 to 170, well one day I told Grace Im tired of working out, n working out, so last year I did my last triathlon around July. Well I went to the Dr about four weeks ago, n when I got on that scale I was not too happy. I weighed in at 212 pounds, which I had never been over 200 pounds. Well now I have trouble breathing, tying my shoes, getting into my suits, my joints hurt when I walk or run. BOTTOM LINE, ITS NOT FUN!!! So whatever little exercise u can do, do it for ur health. As for me I think Ive taken a long enough break from the way I used to train. I am going to live n train by the Ranger Code WITH GODS HELP, I WILL DO MY BEST TO SERVE GOD, MY CHURCH, AND MY FELLOWMAN; TO LIVE BY THE RANGER CODE; TO MAKE THE GOLDEN RULE MY DAILY RULE.
