I explained how I felt someone should be hired (and remain working) based on their qualifications and ability to do the job; not on who they sleep with, are attracted to, or by which gender they identify themselves. As a fellow U of M alumni, I hoped he would see that by coming forward as a transgender male, that I am intelligent and not a bad person; I am just a little different for what society views as so called normal.,
