I teach 14 year olds and upon reading their journal entries, I realise how naive their thinking is about friendship n life. They believe that their best friend with them today will follow them forever. How do I tell them that life is not as perfect as they think and that nothing is permanent? I cant bring myself to burst their bubble. For some, their friends will follow through, but for many, the journey might even end at the end of their school life. Such earnest, optimistic and innocent hearts. When did we lose all these traits man? Being a teacher makes u realise how life basically rips you off your innocence n positivity bit by bit, as you grow up. And when everything is ripped apart, only your true character will prevail. And that, also goes back to upbringing. Imagine when we teachers become parents, the stress and obligation to raise morally upright children becomes even heavier. .. having watching children n teenagers everyday:( n I realise how my parents felt everyday with a brat like me. Oops.
