I think I discovered whats going on with my deformed maters. It may be contaminated manure. I just found out that 2 common herbicides will pass through the animal and persist in the manure. #Clopyralid & #Aminopyralid I added 3 tubs (34 gallons) of manure to the alley garden that was tilled in. I found images that look just like what my maters are exhibiting and since the affected areas are only in certain spots, I bet the poo didnt get tilled in well and so I have hot spots of herbicide! ARRRRRRGH! Anyway, I have a call in to my compost maker to verify what THEY test for since I used a shovel of premium local compost in each hole. Of course not all of the maters were affected so thats probably not it. Anyway, heres the info I just found about it with pictures that are dead on what my maters look like!
