I think I just Coached in one of the best games I have coached in 15 years. To make a long story short. The team we played, we had just played last Wednesday and they thumped us 15-0 in 5 innings. Of course, knowing we would probably be facing them in the tournament, I showed them nothing that night. Tonight we jumped out to a 2-0 lead and kept that lead all the way to the 7th Inning. Cameron pitched awesome, Our defense was amazing. But in the top of the 7th inning, they took the lead 3-2. So there we are down a run with our last at bat...We managed to get a run and tie the score up. Onto the 8th inning we go, they take the lead again, we come up and get a few guys on 1st and 2nd with 2 outs. Greg Priddy comes up to bat and has been a clutch hitter all season. Me being an aggressive base running coach, decided to give one of our bigger slower kids the steal sign to steal 3rd. It was successful, runners on 2nd and 3rd now. Greg hits the ball and scored that runner on 3rd and we tie it to go into the 9th inning...Cameron still pitching a heck of a game, but they scored another run to take the lead again. We come back up to bat, get the bases loaded, they walk a runner in and we tie it up. There is 2 outs, bases still loaded and Sam Martin up to bat with 2 strikes, But he was patient and didnt swing at the wild pitched and walked to score our winning run. And this was against the #1 team in the league this year that only had 1 Loss. Proud of the boys and the way the crowd was. Hell of a ball game. Great Job...Middleport Awareness
