I think its funny how people portray themselves being so in love - TopicsExpress

I think its funny how people portray themselves being so in love or having the perfect relationship. Oh, you guys like the same movies? The same music? Do you both love to eat mexican food until your stomach hurts? What about just sitting and doing nothing but talking for hours on end? You guys never argue or fight? You think those little annoying habits are just absolutely adorbs?? Aw.. These things make you perfect for each other, huh? No. Congratulations on getting along with another human being, but this does not mean youre in love or have the perfect relationship. Let me tell you what TRUE LOVE is.. Its being awake fifteen minutes before your alarm is supposed to go off because your significant other simply cannot put their contacts in or brush their teeth without knocking everything over and waking you up in the process.. Its doing a victory dance in your head for being right, but backing down from a trivial argument just to let the other person think theyve won.. Its internalizing anger when they wont pick where they want to eat .. Its putting your makeup on in the bathroom downstairs because the master bathroom is currently being, bombed, by your partner due to the mexican food you both just stuffed yourselves with.. Its resisting the urge to voice your doubt in their decision making skills when they pick out a movie that does nothing but make you wish for the previous 2 hours of your life back.. And its trucking your ass through the house looking for another blanket in the middle of the night because the blanket you share with your partner magically wrapped itself around a mound of pillows that seem to have melded to your partners skin and taken your spot of the bed in the process.. THAT, ladies and gentleman, is love. Not leaving despite the things that piss you off, not pulling over to the side of the road to let them out because of their incessant need to talk over your favorite songs, and not choking the life right out of their lungs just because youd miss them. My point is, no relationship is perfect. No relationship is happy all the time. Life and reality do eventually set in and put a strain on you and your partner. Love is when you stick it out, fight and get passed it, and come out stronger in the end. Its knowing that no matter what your partner is faced with, no matter what they go through, no matter how hard things get.. you will be there. Right by their side, ready to tackle whatever comes your way. But, you enjoy your movies and mexican food for now.. Let me know what happens after life interferes. #pocketthoughts
