I think its official. I really view Alien 3 as a truly spiritually profound film that while it is chaotic in nature (troubled production, conflicting tones and narrative ideas, and very little character development for the cast of prisoners), there is a depressing yet powerful emotional core at the heart of that film that I finally understood after watching it again in regards to the journey Ripley takes towards her inevitable, tragic conclusion. Mixed in with truly stunning art direction and sets as well as a stirring score from Elliot Goldenthal as well as a more cohesive assembly cut that makes the religious themes and ideas more pronounced, this is an underrated diamond in the rough that has started to shine for me its true, memorizing hold visually and emotionally. This is worth a second chance if you truly despise this film which I completely get since it is very much a dark, gritty horror film but of a different kind. More psychologically and spiritually horrific than just being gory for the sake of it.
