When my friend, David, a poet and songwriter from Detroit died without leaving the password to his facebook page, the profile remained like a digital tombstone. Not a day goes by without people leaving messages, poems, or pictures on his wall the way one would leave flowers at a grave site. I sometimes find myself send messages to his inbox, prayers meant only for his ears, things I never expect to be answered. When we are gone, what tangible life will be left for us? Will the service continue to hum, their tiny lights like candles flickering in a lonely shrine?Who will be the to answer all of the unrequited friend requests?
