I think that bees are dying off because of our greed rather than pesticides. This is an excellent TED talk by a wonderfully eloquent, intelligent and compassionate woman. While I agree with what she is saying, I think her talk leads us away from the root cause. Do we really think we are going to carefully analyze the situation with a scientific approach, find the causes, convince our political leaders to lead agri-business farmers and local flower gardeners away from using pesticides and solve the problem. I doubt it will happen. The bees themselves can teach us much about humility, cooperation, sacrifice and community. They really are way smarter than us. We really don’t need the scientists to tell us what is wrong then trust in our political system to fix it. Fix the greed. The pesticide problem will take care of itself.
