I think the association with the GOP has hurt libertarians. Too many social conservatives think theyre just like libertarians, and theyre not. We have folks trying to invent libertarian reasons to nuke the Middle East, to ban or sharply restrict immigrants, to keep state funding of education, and so forth. They fervently desire to repent of their statist ways, but only if they get to keep their favorite bad habits.
