I think the foundation of any leadership is trust, any form of government esp. democracy if not built on trust can not succeed. We do not trust our own leaders because they are thiefs and liars. Secondly on our own part we the governed we have our priorities misplaced, we are so gullible so easily deceived, so sentimental in our judgements and most of all we are so greedy even to telling ourselves the truth. So that is why time and time again we keep making thesame mistakes. Someone tell me how can there be any developments when they know that they can just buy our votes with bags of rice? How will there be security when police officers and military men lose their lives to the insincerity and corruption of their commanders, and when they die their families are left their fate, no appropriate compensation nor even recognition. And now thirdly, the one that pains me the most, education. The future of any nation is the educated youth and well bred children; now ask yourselves sincerely do you really think that there are leaders of the future in this country anymore? How can? When children no longer go to school like it used to be,even those who go to school can not pass WAEC, parents employing mercenaries for their children to help them pass exams, no good teachers anymore, children are no longer brought up with the fear of God and respect of the elderly. But then again, how can a child be willing to go to school when Wizkid who is a school drop out flaunts dollars, exotic cars and even naked girls on the TV, how can a teacher teach with joy when an uneducated Davido of 22 years makes much money in a day as all the teachers in a local government put together make in a year. The next thing you know is they go into yahoo, money rituals, robbery and so on. Gone are the days of inter-school debates and quiz, essay writing, science and mathematics competitions, where are our Jets clubs and so on. Nowadays all we hear is big brother Africa, project fame, dance hall competition, star trek and so on. Is that what will save our country? Is it Chidinma, Inyanya or Uti that will lead our country? No we need to raise intelligent, intellectual modest and God fearing children to lead the country. We keep copying countries that are well developed ahead of us and we copy only the wrong things and ideas. We are the cause of our problems and until we cure this menace from the roots both the stem and fruits will keep getting rotten no matter how many we try to pluck off. I have decided to keep doing my little bits even if it is just this medium, my style of life and character towards others. Let us make our children know that an educated person is the best asset to any nation and one day we shall reap the fruit of our handwork. Make a change and that is somewhere to start from. Haruna... El-Mira said so......
