I think there is no greater joy than in giving and believe most people feel that way. It makes us happy and we feel helpful and it makes the recipient happy and grateful. We all have our own causes that we hold dearly to our hearts. When someone betrays that trust it tends to make us hesitant before we do it again and that only hurts the cause we are trying to help. Typically around this time of the year, we are asked to give more...not a problem BUT we need to be vigilant in who we are giving to in the sense that your donation or gift is going to ultimately end up in the hands of who it was meant for. Recently I gave with the understanding it was going towards a cause that I hold very near and dear. Approximately 35 other businesses and private donations were given. When it was all said and done, the cause that was to receive this gift received only 20% of the total that was given....the remainder, 80% went to the group that solicited. I am extremely disappointed and angered that this happened. My money as well as everyone who gave would have been better suited in going directly to the recipient. I am also sad because that 80% that went into the solicitors pocket would have paid for something badly needed by the recipient. HOW DARE ANYONE SOLICIT GIFTS AND DONATIONS UNDER THE PRETENSE OF CARING, TO ONLY USE FOR THEIR OWN PERSONAL GAIN. This is shameful and disgusting!
