I think this is still one of the best sequences I can think of all in all the cinema Ive seen. Philippe Garrel uses the most basic, explicitly simple {and cheap) techniques to put a crowbar between memory and materiality and lever out a whole lot of gorgeously viscous gunk, our of which gently and slowly rise startlingly full bubbles of revelation, that gently hang suspended in the air and then burst back into the emptiness of the solitary. the magic is in when these things happen and what they bind together and even more importantly how they do not.
