I think we need to stop tip toing around this issue, the decision - TopicsExpress

I think we need to stop tip toing around this issue, the decision by the BDP not to take part in the GABZ fm debates is utter lunacy and yet another example of Khamas disdain for the foundational and facilitative right of freedom of expression. If anybody had any doubt, there is proof of autocratic rule. The reasons advanced for this decision are equally dum! To suggest that the BDP will take part in other debates, knowing very well that by other debates u mean shamelessly abusing state media to perpetuate this pseaudo one party state, is the worst kind of hypocrisy. If at all Ian Khama is a democrat who believe in media diversity and plurality why would he be opposed to this initiative, even if there were a 100 others to take part in? What does the ruling party hope to achieve by marginalising certain voices, which if u ask is a clear attempt to censor the media. This decision needs to be rejected with the contempt it deserves. This is a great opportunity for voters to judge BDP candidates on whether they will have the courage to stand up for the will of their electorates even if it means breaking ranks with such thoughtless decision making or that they will just add up the numbers and nodd their heads to anything and everything the sovereign says? Why then shud voters waits their votes on them? So stand up and be counted!
