I think we should all get to see the video and judge for ourselves - TopicsExpress

I think we should all get to see the video and judge for ourselves whether it was a tragic misfortune of events or overzealous actions. In order for this shooting to be justifiable there had to be a sense of imminent danger. Unless the pellet gun was being pointed at people and or police, if the man was indeed leaning on it like a cane while talking on the phone, whether he dropped the weapon or not a fatal shooting is overkill. They could have in that instance wounded the man. He was obviously not in any version pointing the gun at people when the police officers arrived, since they opened fire & shot him, otherwise theyre risking the lives of innocent people. Since this wasnt the case, Id like to see the danger that they felt they were in since they were both armed and saw it was safe to open fire because there were no chance of civilian casualties when they decided to do so. Without seeing the video I wont say theyre guilty, but I also havent watched ANY video of the man waving a gun in peoples faces. If youre going to say give one side the benefit of the doubt, you have to give it to all sides yourself. That video would go a long way to appease public outrage if it shows events close to what has been reported by the officers. It will also unite people to protest a gross use of force if its shown that the officers accounts are less than truthful. Either way, justice wont be a matter of question and mistrust. We dont call for blood: we call for the truth. It shouldnt matter if the man was black or white: it should only matter that a man died holding a toy gun. We shouldnt be looking to make excuses why he got shot: we need to find ways to stop so many tragic police shooting from happening.
