I think youre bravest in January. I know, it might sound a little odd, but hear me out. Having coached thousands of clients, Ive seen a pattern. Fresh off of the holidays, having reconnected with our Creator, our Core, and our Community, most of us feel temporarily courageous. Were willing to explore freedom and consider true fulfillment. What do we do in this moment of bravery? According to TIME magazine, the first Monday after the New Year is the busiest day for job search, and January is the busiest month of the year. It was a gangbuster day: on January 1, job searches were up 56% from the December average. In my book Day Job to Dream Job I use Shawshank Redemption to describe how 86% of the population feels every day at their jobs...IMPRISONED from their potential and CAGED from their creativity. The longer we go without fortifying our faith the quicker we settle back in our prison cells. Unfortunately, just like Shawshank Redemption our bravery wanes and most go back to feeling comfortable with being institutionalized...until next January.
