I thought Id upload this picture. Its a great example of how easy it can be to get off track in our family history, and how our old photos might not represent what we think they do. In this case I have this photo of a known person..I have other images of him and so I do know who it is. Taken in 1909 according to a note on the reverse. Looks like hes in the Navy, but it was fortunate, in this case, that someone wrote a brief description at the bottom. Uncle Earl in Uncle Jesss clothes. Having this picture, without that note might well have led me to search for Earl in Military records. I already knew his brother Jess was in the Navy and that he got out in 1909. Earl never served in the Military but apparently he tried on his brothers uniform for this photo. I guess this is a good reminder that we all need to make sure all of our current pictures are identified.
