I thought this was a cool different way of looking at things Seans Deep Thought of the Day: Satan. He is vilified in the Bible for getting Adam and Eve to eat the fruit that gave them the knowledge of good and evil. Basically, to become self aware. Satan was cast away because of this gift that he gave us. But if you look at other religions with a similar situat...ion, that character is considered a hero. Consider Prometheus who stole Fire from his fellow Gods in order to give humanity fire, who is again cast away. Lets even look at it from a more modern day perspective. Snowden releasing the knowledge of how the NSA/American Government is effectively spying on us and breaking their own laws. Again, he is cast away for giving us knowledge and disobeying our gods. Its fascinating to think that maybe the Biblical story (and similar stories that mirror its topic) might show that Satan isnt really a bad guy at all. Just a vilified entity that broke against the ruling class in order to free the human slaves below. We are taught to hate him in order to stay loyal and faithful and unquestioningly obedient to our masters. Interesting thought...
