I thought this was interesting. Play along if you like! You are supposed to post 15 movies that inspire you, then tag friends that you think will do the same, and tag you back, so you can all learn more about one another. Thanks to our friend Jason for tagging me! When I first decided to post this list I was going to list 15 movies that I love. But then I realized that the key word in the sentence is INSPIRE. So I rethought my list because I want to focus specifically on movies that actually inspired me not just entertained me. I think all of you should do the same, especially the people that Im tagging, and focus on that particular word because I believe that there is a fundamental difference between loving a movie because its entertaining and loving a movie because it is inspiring (regardless of whether its entertaining or not). I have found after giving this a great deal of thought (especially as a filmmaker myself) that I do have a different list of movies that inspire me than the movies that I just love and adore. Of course there is plenty of crossover between the two lists but there are some that are exclusive to either list. Im actually posting 22, because thats what I thought of. These are in no particular order. 1) TRON (Original) 2) Star Wars 3) The Princess Bride 4) Dune 5) Before Sunrise / Before Sunset 6) Forrest Gump 7) Treasure Planet 8) The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy (Original BBC) 9) Beyond Silence 10) Marco Polo (Original Mini Series) 11) The Last Emperor 12) Dances with Wolves 13) The Matrix 14) Gandhi 15) St. Elmos Fire 16) The Karate Kid Series 17) On Golden Pond 18) Secondhand Lions 19) Big Fish 20) Hidalgo 21) The Neverending Story 22) My Favorite Year I find it fascinating, and a bit sad, that there hasnt been an inspirational movie that I have loved in recent years. This is why our screen play needs to be made!
