I thought well , Rod take a swing at Kijiji and offer to re-home someones ferrets into a forever home. I had a few replies but these were people that were wanting to make money as apposed to thinking of their animals. I had one Asian student from UWO here want to sell me a ferret and a small cage for 450.00 as she was going back to Japan in April and had only bought the ferret 6 months ago, what was she thinking I made her an offer but no go .She tried me again but I told her Im only interested in giving the ferret a good permanent home, and left it at that .My first reply was a women near Sarnia who said she no longer had the time ( usual remark) and had two and a ferret nation cage toys etc and said her husband wouldnt let her give them away but would trade. I told her I wasnt sure what we could trade for but I said if you want sell the cage and I wil gladly take the ferrets. She had a boy and a girl bot around 3 one she had had since a baby and another one she got in Sept last year from Kijiji no history at all for a play mate for her current one but they were not playing together. I left it at that and last week I got a email saying she was ready to give them up to me.We made arrangements to meet at a friends in Strathoy. I asked some basics and she said the were both healthy eating pooping etc but neither had seen a vet due to finances and that the female had been very small since day one.She met us and surrendered the ferrets Pippin the boy is a big guy and healthy as hell or looks that way .The girl on the other had is very tiny and thin with large feet ? she appeared a little dehydrated and there are patches of missing fur ( this she didnt tell me , and she was a vet tech) They were on Iams kitten food and I dont think thats the best diet for them .The ferrets were all but odor free weird I thought then found 4 bottles of ferret shampoo and ferret scent remover spray in amongst the supplies given to us and the distinct smell of either fabreeze oir fabric softener on their blankets etc.My wife said I think she is a bath freak and I think I agree The little girl had not really been responding to her name Summer so we decided to change it and taking in her size we renamed her Winnie which I think she will fit into nicely Pippin will remain Pippin as I prmised this and will be taking Winnie to see the vet this week hopefully .Id like to thank everyone here that tried so hard to assist me in getting a mate for Nicholas and we still miss our Missy so much I still cry when I think of her but Nicholas now has someone to share his life with and thats what matters .Ive tried to get pics but not the great for some reason .The are playing and sleeping together nicely no battle royales at all. It almost seemed like overnight little Winnie gained weight we have them on a hi protein diet food and they are eating like pigs . And Pippin has red eyes its been a while since we had one of these and hes so gentle
