I told myself yesterday as I went to sleep, not knowing what the grand jury in Missouris decision was, that I wouldnt make any comment or post about it. Then I woke up this morning and learned of the decision, proceeded to walk down to the break room and got myself a cup of coffee. Seeing only what had been posted on social media, I have to hear from the Christian southerners I work with that, If black people didnt act the way they did, they wouldnt be treated the way they are. Well that makes me physically and mentally ill. I have always had the misfortune of feeling the suffering deep in my bones, and have always tried my hardest to channel out the suffering and focus on the brightness in the world for this reason. Well Neil Youngs song will always stand the test of time for the south, it is almost as if they work hard to make everything about this song true to this day. It is unfortunate that we live in a country that still accepts hate and fear as an excuse to treat others poorly. Ive said it before and I will most likely say it again, this is a place where ignorance is blissfully accepted and acceptance is blissfully ignored. This is why the south has not and will not change. This is why the south, in a time of information and technology, continues to be the least informed and most ignorant group of people in the United States, if not the entire world.
