I took lots of amazing pics today. So hard to choose which ones to post, but I think these 5 will do for now. Once again, Trail Magic was in motion. Sorry in advance for the long post! ;) The day started as a challenge. I felt like crap. But an hour into it, the fresh air and the sunlight seemed to cure me! I was rocking the walk almost effortlessly. Pat Greene and John Denver on the playlist. I was enjoying it. Little did I know I was walking such a historical route. No lie, about every 1/2 mile was some placard detailing a part of the Revolutionary War. It kept me quite entertained and I got a serious 3 hour history lesson! For real! Beautiful old towns and friendly people waving and giving me the thumbs up all day long made the day seem almost easy. By the time I got to Waverly I had totally forgotten I had been so sick just a day ago! Two attempts at finding the fire dept had me pretty frustrated. I finally decided to stop in Mickeys Pub to grab a bite for supper and get directions. Passing me on the street was this little lady you see in the pics. Sarah Elizabeth. 80 yrs old and rides that bike to run her errands! She ended my frustration by making me smile. In Mickeys I meet Courtney who is working and her friend Jaimi who is there for dinner. Not long after, Courtney tells me to forget the fire dept, I am camping in her yard. Jaimi follows up with the news she bringing me a lunch for the road in the morning! There was some time before Courtney got done her shift, so I settled in and got to know the customers. Amazing. Just amazing people everywhere. Linda, worked at the samenursing home for 42 yrs! She just retired. Cheryl works as a supervisor 12 hour shifts at a lumberyard. Such hard working women, I was almost embarassed to be in their presence! But I so enjoyed my time with them and could have easily talked all through the night! Right before leaving, a man named Luke asked Courtney if it was true I was camping in her yard. When she said yes, he told her to take me, her man and her newborn baby out to eat and gave her the money for it! So thats where we are now! I had manicotti tonight in a nice restaurant instead of peanut butter in my tent. Instead of eating alone, im with 2 great people Courtney and Paulie and their baby Ronan (notice the NY Giants binkie in the pic?!). What should have been a challenging day, was just another one of the great ones. I hate that soon it will be ending and I wont be meeting people everyday and learning about their lives. But I guess its almost time to make something of my own... Tomorrow is 20+ miles but I do have a couchsurf host. Ill check in when I get there :)
