I try to make my posts light-hearted and happy because thats what most people want. You gravitate toward happy, not Debby Downers. But some days...... Poor Manny has a list of quirks. He has separation anxiety. Had an eye infection. Was bounced around a bit. Then we noticed a BB in his face so doc took an xray of his face and there were multiple fragments. Today he had a follow-up vet appointment where I got the good news that his family will be adopting him. (This is the first dog weve placed with them that will have anything to do with males and dad is ecstatically happy he finally has a dog that likes him.) They also noticed that he sits funny. Doc thought he felt something and took an xray. Manny had been shot in the knee. Doc then went on to explain that many shoot them in the knees to disable but not kill them. They do this on purpose because its almost impossible to fix that. Weve had 3 in the past few months. His exact words were Someone did this on purpose. For now he will continue to be exercised, get pain meds when it bothers him and theyll watch for arthritis. There is just now way to make this a happy story. Yes, he now has an absolutely phenomenal home for life that will address anything he needs in the future. But not even that is enough to make any of this okay. Quit shooting dogs.
