I try to very rarely post anything political or religious on Facebook. There comes a point, however, when you just need to say some things. I have seen untold posts about violent acts that were committed by Muslims. Yes, there have been some atrocious acts committed in the name of Islam by radicals that are fairly widely disowned by their own culture/religion. But before you become to judgmental, and sadly this is mainly aimed at my Christian friends, you should think about the atrocities that have been committed in the name of our beliefs. If we just start with still very recent history, there was an incident known as the Holocaust. Yes, it was led by a mentally disturbed man, but he was a Christian. If we want to go back just a little bit further in history, we can look to the near total destruction of the Native American population. Sure you could argue that this wasnt based off of religion, but guess what the primary religion of those responsible for that black mark on American history is. We could keep going further back. The Inquisitions, the Crusades, and any time some king thought he truly had the blessing of The Lord are all examples of mass death and torture caused by Christians. Now before you decide to post some horrible comment about how I shouldnt speak against Christianity, Im not. I love my religion and acknowledge the fact that I have faults and failings. Im just trying to prove a point. There are always going to be evil people that claim they are acting in the name of God, no matter what language they say it in. All Im asking for and saying is this. Let he who is without sin cast the first stone. Judge not lest ye be judged. And Treat others as you would have them treat you. ... Thats pretty universal for any belief system.
