I understand the departments insistence that mothers breastfeed - TopicsExpress

I understand the departments insistence that mothers breastfeed their children while in evacuation centers. And that no milk formula should be part of relief goods. But what about those who cannot? Shouldnt the DOH instead teach mothers how to properly prepare formula milk for their children? I mean, if ignorance is the reason for the ailments, shouldnt knowledge be the answer? At least give the mother a choice? I know how breastfeeding could be difficult, painful and even frustrating for some mothers. Those with inverted nipples simply cannot do it. There are mothers who dont produce ample breast milk, leaving the child dissatisfied after feeding. Shouldnt the mothers specific condition matter in this regard? Just thinking out loud.
