I understand why Turkey was admitted to NATO in 1952 (Because, she sent troops to the Korean War, and Cold War-related conflicts were escalating then). I understand why Turkey is not admitted to the EU (Because she is a very underdeveloped country in terms of Copenhagen criteria and good governance). But I dont understand why Turkey was included in OECD in 1961. She was and still is a very prominent outlier among OECD countries in so many respects. Why is Turkey in OECD?
