I used to be a runner, I cycle now. Not because I want to cycle, - TopicsExpress

I used to be a runner, I cycle now. Not because I want to cycle, but because I am physically unable to run any more. I cycle out on the Coles Crossing greenway trails. As a runner I always appreciated a cyclist letting me know that they were behind me and getting ready to pass me. After completing 24 full marathons and all the training that went into them, I had been startled many times with a bike blasting past me. You may see me out there on my purple mountain bike with my gray helmet, I will always be polite and let you know I am there...calling out one your left or right whatever the case would be and thanking you as I pass. As a runner I was thankful for that. Many times I call out to runners and I see them with ear phones and wonder if they can hear me...I still call out to them anyway. Please dont sneer at me because I dont hop onto the grass on my bike, because with 2 years of physical therapy I am just now (only 6 weeks) able to ride a bike. I would never want to run into you, my biggest fear is falling as I have a metal rod that goes 1/2 way down my shin bone and 6 inches up into my femur. I am not steady enough to hop onto the grass, I am a beginner...again. I am not writing this to CRC, but just to anyone who reads this page and uses the Coles Crossing Greenway. I wish I was running with you all, but I cant...so Ill cycle by and always let you know that I am there!
