I used to believe that cattle were the greatest menace to western lands but the truth is that wild horses cause a lot more damage. While wild horses may be viewed as symbols of our colonization of the west, we need to set aside these romantic notions and face the reality of just how destructive these animals have been to western habitats! And as far as adoptions are concerned, we need to realize that this policy, however well intended, has been a dismal failure in terms of reducing wild horse populations. Its time to seriously consider putting the vast majority of these animals out to the great pasture in the sky.
