I used to think that suicide was a selfish act, leaving many loved ones to constantly question why? I dont think one can ever understand just how debilitating deep rooted depression can be unless you yourself have been on the brink of such overwhelming darkness. Having lived with depression my whole life, and on many occassions, almost been beaten by the tight grip of emptiness and nothingness that saps every little bit of hope out of you, i have learnt to understand just how crucial and vital it is to be under the watchful eye of professional help. Sometimes medication helps, sometimes it doesnt. It never ceases to amaze me how people say that suicide is a choice. Let me tell you that choice is the last thing on your mind. I received the news tonight of a family member who hung himself today, leaving behind a wife and children. All my heart and thoughts are with them at this time but my soul cries out to a fellow sufferer of the cruelest conditions. May he forever rest in peace...
