I usually do not get involved with articles that I believe are posted in a political nature, about who is the best, most influential etc etc... However, after reading this article I had to chime in! Obviously, whoever wrote this article has not been paying much attention to what is actually going on in the Bachata scene! I am not discrediting anyone who is on this list, but those who were left off, seriously make we question the motive behind these type of articles. I want to bring to attention three people that should have made the list & for whatever reason didnt. Here are 3 people I think should have made the list & why! Alejandro Bouza What Alejandro Bouza has done for the Bachata scene in NYC is amazing. Bachateame Mama is the largest weekly Bachata party in the World with 400-700 attendees weekly. This is bigger then most small dance festivals in the USA. Beyond that he runs over 15+ parties a week promoting Bachata as well as other dances. Las Chicas Locas on Sundays has 5-7 ballrooms of Latin dancing with a big emphasis on Bachata as well as Salsa, Zouk, Kizomba, Swing & other dances. Most festivals have no more then 3 or 4 ballrooms for their yearly event. Alejandro also has a Bachata & Rueda festival co-sponsored with Piel Canela. So I take my hat off to Alejandro for being a true pioneer in Bachata! Secondly, Rudy El El Tiguere Del Mambo should have made the list. Creator of Tampa Bachata & Salsa Congress, Bachatu & a integral part of the success of the Island touch brand. With over 5,000 downloads of his mixes on SoundCloud he is arguable one of the top 3 most listened to Bachata DJs in the World! His vision to help propel Island Touch into a World brand with Tanja Kensinger & Jorge Burgos is amazing! Rudy should have easily made this list bringing bachata into the MAIN STREAM! Zeke Ruvalcaba El Fabulousa should have easily made this list. His vision as an Artistic Director of some of the top Bachata festivals in the World, like the DC Bachata Congress is unparalleled in our industry. His routines were years ahead of many in the World. His continued development of Bachata in Chicago & as an Artist, Choreographer, Costume Designer & Artistic Director means Zeke should have made the list. Kat & I are usually very humble people who just enjoy Bachata & Latin dancing. We are very fortunate to have been able to make a very good living doing what we do for the past 12 years. I want to just give a couple bullet points as to why I think we should have made the list. Here is a couple reasons Lee El Gringuito & Kat La Gata should have made the list! *We have taught in 800 + Cities World wide over the past 12 years. *We have taught more people in the United States to dance Bachata then anyone in the World! DC was the third ever Bachata festival in North America with 5000+ attendees from 48 States & 29 countries at last years event! *The DC Bachata Congress has brought more Bachata artists over the past 6 years then any Bachata Festival in the United States. Here is the short list Joan Soriano Joe Veras Bachata Heightz Nelly Soriano Toby Love AndyAndy Astro DeLa Bachata Leslie Grace Luis Vargas (DC Flavor Fest) 24 Horas Maryln Jesse Rose Migz *We have taught Bachata in 20+ Countries World Wide *In the DC Metro area we are the founders of the Bachata Movement. Over the past 12 years we have started over 30 nights many with a heavy focus on Bachata... *We have 5 Instructional Bachata DVDs on the market that have been sold across the USA & the World... *We are the creators of the Worlds first Bachata Meet Up in 2007 & now have Bachata Meet Up groups in 10+ cities across the USA... *We were featured in USA Today with Romeo & Usher in an article highlighting Bachata going main stream... *The DC Bachata Congress was the first Bachata Festival in the United States to have an article written by a major newspaper. Washington Post Sunday Edition 5th Annual DC Bachata Congress... *Kat & I have done interviews on CNN Espanol which aired in over 25 countries world side promoting Bachata *Kat & I have pushed Bachata in the DC area with events like the DC Bachata NYE, DC Spring Bachata Fling & other notable events... This post is not about glorifying what we have done, its about setting the record straight.
