I usually dont post my poems, but I wrote this one last night after praying about the situation at our border. I was meditating on the story of Moses in Exodus and the very difficult decision his mother made. No matter what your political affiliation or opinion of the situation, it doesnt hurt to take on a different perspective... The Heart of the Mother of a Border Child I sent you away today Not before I prayed and prayed As Moses mother sent him down the Nile I sent you on a journey of a thousand miles I thought if only you could reach the land of the free You would have a life much better than me Clean water to drink and a safe place to grow It was a great chance I took That I well know I hope you find your way I pray you fight Those who dont understand say what I did was not right Can they not see a mothers love runs deeper than fear I only did it because I wanted to prolong your years So I sent you away today But not before I prayed and prayed
