I visited With Dr. Close my cancer dr. I was given info overload. We PET scan showed no new cancer. I have a warm spot on my liver ( and my liver blood work is still flagged as high and abnormal) that I have to have re scanned in 3 months. The Dr has not seen a pt. with my type of stage 3rd renal cell carcinoma that is PEComa( my rare cancer). He is starting me on oral chemo now. Yuck! The side effects are about like iv chemo but less intent. At least that what was explained to me today. The Dr says since my rare cancer was very vascular( a lot of blood) and is a intensely fast growing cancer I have to be evaluated at Md anderson in Houston. He believes since the vascularity of the tumor was very high that there is a high potential of just even a slight tumor cell to be left and/ or was circulated in my blood. He stated I have a high potential for the aggressive cancer to rear its ugly face again. The chemo will help ward away returning cancer cells but due to my young age and the progression of the tumor removed he wants a second opinion from the ones that have dealt with PEComa. He is worried about returning cancer cells or any that were tiny at surgery and possibly remained taking over again. My tumor was up almost in to my atria in my heart down into and completely taken over my right kidney. He doesnt know where tumor originated first.. either in the inferior vena cava or into the kidney but either origin it was aggressive. .. so Im really bummed out. I wanted to be over all this super fun Crap but Im not gonna complain Im alive and my faith in GOD is strong. Please continue to keep praying for me and my family who are much stronger than I am most of the time. I hope I explained this well enough.
