I visited a predominately white church yesterday in an effort to fully explore the worship options in my area. The members trekked into the sanctuary in shorts and flip flops (Me & Allana were over dressed), coffees and pastries in hand (They had a starbucks in the church yall). We were greeted with smiles. The level of production, quality of sound and lighting was excellent- like something out of a Hillsong concert (I loved it). What I loved most about our worship experience was the message (Made for More). I actually remember the message of salvation which was simple and pure. Christ was presented in such a simple pure way in one of the most impressive sanctuaries Ive ever stepped foot in. Even the collection of the offering was pure (Hey bring your tithes if you have them-is pretty much how it went). At the end of the message we were invited to pray before God, go up to the alter for prayer, pin our prayer requests to make-shift crosses, light candles for loved ones or part-take in communion..(Sounds like a lot but there was beautiful order). I dont know why Im sharing this other than to say it was refreshing...Absolutely refreshing not to be oogled and eye-balled, brow-beat for money, or beat up with the word & actually hear a message that compelled me to look inward and take personal inventory. It was a great 1 hour long service & Id do it all over again. Maybe its because its new to me... Maybe its because Im sick of religion and pride being translated over pulpits..OR or Maybe its because I just want to be where people love God, love to serve and love life.. #LifeChanging
