I voted against the increase tonight, but we were outvoted. Thursday morning, I presented a plan that would allow Metro to live within its means. Sadly, my colleagues failed to do the right thing. The version we passed tonight reduced the increase from 3% down to 2%. While that’s the right direction, I still oppose the unnecessary increase in the cost of government. I assure you that I will vote against the entire budget if that tax remains. I talked about this on the Joe Elliott show last week on WGTK . Even without the LG&E Fee, Metro Louisvilles revenue will go up over 3.5%. I believe we should live within our means and place a priority on needs such as police and youth, before we take care of the Mayors Wants. This latest round of tax and fee increases will not diminish the migration of people out of Louisville to the surrounding counties. Trust me when I say that I will fight the Mayors latest effort to raise taxes and fees on the backs of taxpayers.
