I voted yes on #HR4486, Military Construction and Veterans Affairs Appropriations Act for Fiscal Year 2015. This is the rare appropriations bill that actually seems to improve every year. The veterans affairs portion makes up over 94 percent of the funding provided in this years bill, and the bill cuts spending on (often wasteful) military construction by 33 percent ($3.3 billion) compared to FY 2014. Overall, the bill spends $1.8 billion less. Like last year, I support the combined bill because funding for important veterans programs makes up the bulk of it, and the bill provides funding and staffing to reduce the VA claims backlog. It passed 416-1.
